Activities for Children and Youth

Pre-School Story-time and Craft
Year round every Tuesday and Friday mornings 10:30 A.M. A program of rhymes, stories, songs, and simple crafts for Moms and tots.

Movie Night at the Library sponsored by ConocoPhillips
Admission FREE!! - Pop and Popcorn $2.00.
Surf's Up - March 4, 6:30

Dr. Seuss's Birthday Party!!!! - Children under 7 MUST be accompanied by an adult. March 2 3:30-5:00. Help us celebrate 106 years of Dr. Seuss! Crafts, Games, Snacks!

St. Patrick's Day Fun! - Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. March 17 3:30 pm Join us for fun, games, crafts, and snacks to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Prizes for wearing the most green!

Board Games and Pizza at the Library - 5:30 pm - February 18 , 2010 - $2.00 each - children under age 6 must be accompanied by an adult.

Armchair Traveller

A slide show and talk, presented by someone who has been on an interesting trip somewhere, or visited or worked in a foreign country.

This event takes place year round, generally we meet on the second Thursday of the month but there are months when we will meet on the third Thursday of the month. Watch the Rimbey Review and this website for future event dates.

Summer Reading Program

This year we are able to have two summer students thanks to a STEP grant, a grant from Young Canada Works and Community Spirit (An Alberta Lottery Foundation Grant)

Nex year's theme is Jungles.

Also there is an online teen reading program that runs all year round. Check out their web-site at teenrc.ca The theme this year is Read All About It! Read books, chat with authors, chat with other teens and win prizes!!

Computer Classes

Computer classes are offered at the library and are organized by Ponoka/Rimbey Adult Learning.

For more information regarding the computer classes, contact Monica (843-3201) at the Ponoka/Rimbey Adult Learning office. The office is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from
9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Board Games and Pizza at the Library - 5:30 pm - January 21, 2010 - $2.00 each - children under age 6 must be accompanied by an adult.

Discover Mexico - 5:00 pm - February 20 - We will have speakers on the people, culture, politics, religion and technology. There will be pictures, mesic, a pinata, and a sampling of Mexican food!

March 23 - 6:30 pm - Kick-Off Rimbey's annual Spring Festival with PETER PUFFIN - internationally renowned children's musician!!!! Donations support adult literacy.

March 30 - Spring Festival - Come enjoy listening to storyteller Renee Englot!!! 2:00 pm FREE!

March 31 -Spring Festival - Lorna Bennett's Illustration Workshop! Must pre-register. $10.00

Book Club

The Book Club meets the last Thursday of every month (except in December) from
6 pm to 7:30 pm. The members generally pick one book to read and discuss each month.
